ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
In Syria, WFP provides food assistance to more than 4.6 million people each month. This includes families who require emergency assistance when affected by conflict and displacement and those who need help to improve their nutrition and food security. WFP supports children across Syria with healthy meals and snacks at school, mothers with nutritious diets, and families and communities with sustainable livelihood projects.
WFP Syria Country Office’s Mersin Area Office operates across borders to assist around 1 million people residing in Northwest Syria each month, through its cooperating partners via various assistance modalities.
JOB PURPOSE
The AAP associate is expected to take the responsibility for completion of a range of processes and activities related to managing the beneficiaries’ feedback and complaint mechanism, assessing the accountability of WFP to its beneficiaries, and taking protection and gender measures into consideration during project implementation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive)
Under the supervision of the Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for:
Manage, track, and ensure proper response is provided to complaints, inquiries, and feedback received through WFP’s Call Centre or other channels.
Conduct sensitization sessions to partners staff about the complaint & feedback mechanisms, PSEA, gender-sensitive progamming, and protection risks to improve and enhance their performance and project implementation.
Participate in regular visits to the communities to conduct KIIs and FGDs with the affected population to inform programme and management on the quality of WFPs engagement and interventions.
Develop frequently asked questions (FAQs) directed towards the affected populations regarding WFPs targeting, registration, and programming.
Facilitate the expansion of WFPs Call Centre by developing and operationalizing a sensitization plan.
Provide regular trainings and updates to WFP’s Call Centre operators on Mersin AO activities, messaging, and service mapping.
Review and analyse the monthly CP and WFP CFM reports and share results and recommendations with CPs and WFP management and programme staff.
Engage with key stakeholders in the humanitarian community regarding AAP, Protection, Gender and Communication to share best practices and coordinate cross-learning.
Provide additional support services as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
Completion of secondary school education.
A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
Experience:
At least six years of progressively responsible support experience including at least one year in the field of AAP, Gender, Protection, humanitarian operations, or another related field.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies
Advanced skills in designing XLSForms and using ODK (Open Data Kit)
Knowledge of AAP essentials i.e. CFM Mechanisms, Protection, Gender
Knowledge and experience in data analysis using tools like SPSS, R, Excel
Knowledge and experience in summarizing and reporting findings
Language
Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station (English) and in the duty station’s language. Given the context, fluency in both oral and written communication in Arabic is required for this position.
